Terms & conditions

Last updated 26 October 2026

These terms apply when you use this website and when you buy equipment or services from us. Please read them before you accept a quote.

1. About us

This website is run by Great Comcat Engineering Ltd (trading as Great Comcat Engineering), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 12837895, with its registered office at Unit 1, 193 Garth Road, Morden, SM4 4LZ, United Kingdom. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Great Comcat Engineering Ltd, and “you” means the person or business buying from us or using the website.

You can reach us using the details on our contact page.

2. How ordering works

We sell by quotation. We do not take payments on this website. Adding items to your basket and sending a quote request is an enquiry, not an order, and does not create a contract.

  1. You send us a quote request through the website, by phone or by email.
  2. We send you a written quote describing the equipment or services, the price, any delivery or installation charges and the payment terms. A quote is valid for 30 days unless it says otherwise.
  3. A contract is formed only when you accept the quote in writing and we confirm the order in writing. If we cannot accept an order, for example because the item has sold, we will tell you and you will not be charged.

3. Prices and payment

  • Prices on the website are a guide only, are in pounds sterling and may change at any time. The price that applies is the one in your accepted quote.
  • Our quotes state whether prices include VAT. Business customers are quoted excluding VAT unless stated; VAT is added at the current rate.
  • Payment is made by bank transfer or another method agreed in the quote, and is due on the terms set out in the quote or invoice. We may ask for a deposit or full payment before we deliver or start work.
  • If a business customer pays late, we may charge interest and compensation under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

4. New, refurbished and used equipment

Each product listing and quote states whether the item is new, refurbished or used. Refurbished equipment has been inspected, repaired and tested in our workshop. Used equipment is sold in the condition described in the quote and may show signs of previous use. Photos are for illustration and the item you receive may differ slightly in appearance.

5. Delivery, installation and risk

  • Delivery and installation dates are estimates. We will keep you informed if there is a delay.
  • You must make sure the site is ready, including suitable access, gas, electrical, water and extraction connections, and that any required safety certification for your premises is in place. If we cannot complete delivery or installation because the site is not ready, we may charge for a return visit.
  • By law, gas appliances must be installed and commissioned by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
  • Risk in the equipment passes to you on delivery. Ownership passes to you once we have received payment in full.

6. Repair, servicing and refurbishment

  • We carry out services with reasonable care and skill. Where a fault cannot be diagnosed in advance, our quote may be an estimate, and we will ask before doing work that would cost more than the estimate.
  • Call-out, labour and parts are charged at the rates in your quote or our current rates if none was agreed.
  • Equipment left with us for repair that is not collected within 90 days of us telling you it is ready may be disposed of or sold to cover our costs, after we have given you written notice.

7. Warranty

New equipment carries the manufacturer’s warranty. Refurbished equipment and our repair work carry the warranty period stated in your quote. The warranty covers faults from defective parts or workmanship. It does not cover wear and tear, misuse, lack of cleaning or maintenance, damage from incorrect installation by others, or consumable parts. Used equipment sold as seen carries no warranty unless the quote says so.

8. If you are a consumer

Most of our customers are businesses. If you are buying as a consumer (for purposes outside your trade or business), you have legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 that these terms do not affect. Goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose, and services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill.

If you are a consumer and the contract is agreed without meeting us in person, you may cancel within 14 days of receiving the goods, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. You must return the goods in the condition you received them and you pay the cost of return unless we agree otherwise. This right does not apply to services that have been fully performed with your agreement, or to goods made or modified to your specification. For services, if you ask us to start within the cancellation period, you will pay for the work done up to the point you cancel.

9. If you are a business

If you are buying for business purposes, the sections on consumer rights do not apply to you. Any terms implied by statute, other than those as to title, are excluded to the fullest extent the law allows, and your remedies for faulty goods or services are those in section 7.

10. Our liability

  • Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
  • For business customers, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of stock or food, or any indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability under a contract is limited to the price paid under that contract.
  • For consumers, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for business losses.

11. Using this website

  • We try to keep the website accurate and available but do not guarantee that it will be error-free or uninterrupted. Product details, stock and prices can change without notice.
  • The content of this website, including text, images, logos and the Great Comcat Engineering brand, belongs to us or our licensors. You may view and print it for your own use, but may not copy or reuse it commercially without our permission. Manufacturer names and trade marks belong to their owners and are used only to describe the equipment.
  • You must not misuse the website, for example by introducing malicious code, attempting unauthorised access or sending spam through our forms.
  • Links to other websites are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content.

12. Complaints

If you are unhappy with our equipment or service, please contact us using the details on our contact page. We aim to acknowledge complaints within two working days and resolve them as quickly as we can.

13. General

  • We may update these terms from time to time. The version on the website when you accept a quote applies to that order.
  • If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
  • Events outside our reasonable control, such as supplier delays or severe weather, may delay or prevent us from performing; we will tell you and try to limit the effect.
  • These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Disputes will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales, except that consumers living in Scotland or Northern Ireland may also bring proceedings in their local courts.
